Shakopee Home Improvement Expo
to Benefit Flood, Bridge Victims
ST. LOUIS PARK, MINN.—MediaMAX Events
and Expos has partnered with The Foundation Network (TFN) Impact
America Fund to raise funds for southeastern Minnesota families
who were affected by recent floods, and for victims of the I-35W
bridge collapse.
TFN Impact America will provide up to 16
hours of entertainment at the Home Improvement & Design Expo,
which will be held Sept. 29 and 30 at Canterbury Park. Jazz vocalist
Henry Allen, the neo-beatnik-folk-funk sensation Wolves and Ravens,
saxophonist and gospel recording artist Mel Holder, reggae hip-hop
performer Ryan Daniel and Christian artist Tru-Serva are among
the performers. Also featured is Jeff Warner, Ultimate Strength,
who “breaks bricks for Christ.”
Local green designer Joshua Foss, just
returned from an appearance on HGTV’s hit show, “Design
Star,” will discuss the benefits of “going green,”
from increased health benefits, to lower heating, energy and water
bills. He’ll also talk about green building as a movement
and why it's important.
The Expo will feature up to 220 exhibitors
and adds a new feature this year, “Ask the Expert.”
Show attendees will be able to sit down with a builder or remodeler
and create their ultimate dream home or visit with a master gardener
and learn how to plan the “ultimate garden.” They
can also meet with “healthy home” experts who will
answer questions about radon, mold, allergies and ways to create
a healthy living environment. “Green” housing professionals
will highlight alternative living spaces and energy sources.
Attendees will also be able to take advantage
of fall specials from various builders, remodelers, landscapers
and home improvement professionals who will exhibit at the expo.
An ATV will be given away each day; attendees must stay until
the end of the show each day to be part of the drawing.
Hours are 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Sept. 29,
and 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Sept. 30. Admission is $6 at the door.
Canterbury Park is located at 1100 Canterbury Road, Shakopee.
