DESCRIPTION: Renovating your home can be one of the most important investments you’ll ever make. Will you get the most out of your renovation dollar? Or regrettably, will you blow your budget and still not have the home you’ve dreamed of? This fun interactive session will teach you how to avoid the most common, costly renovation mistakes while taking full advantage of the current economic market.

 

PRESENTERS: Chris & Julie Doehrmann

BIOS: Chris Doehrmann, owner of Twin Cities based residential architecture firm, Chris Doehrmann Architect, Inc. and his wife and Marketing Director, Julie, have been assisting clients in making their dreams for “home” come true since 1991. Licensed as an architect in Minnesota in 1989, Chris’s projects have ranged from small rear entry additions to elegant expansive homes and are as diverse in architectural style as their owners. With over 17 years of experience in residential architecture,

Chris and Julie have seen their share of home renovation mistakes that have cost owners thousands of dollars and are now sharing that experience with you.

DESCRIPTION: We will discuss all areas that you are having problems with, and at the end of the seminar we will go over the ins and outs on how to find a landscaping contactor and what to look for.

PRESENTER: Steven Schack

BIO: Steven Schack started over 20 years ago in landscaping. He started up his company, The Greenery Schack LLC, in 1991. Steven is trained and certified in all aspects of hardscapes in the landscaping industry. Every year he continues to retrain and re-certify, to stay abreast of all the new products, procedures and changes in the landscaping industry. Steven updated his training and certification in 2003 at the Certified Concrete Paver Installer Program to become skilled at how to install paver patios flawlessly. He has also been trained and certified by several landscaping segmental retaining wall block companies such as Versa-Lok, Allan Block, Anchor and others. This training is on going every year to insure The Greenery Schack’s customers get the best company to install their segmental retaining wall and paver driveway and patio products perfectly. The company’s supervisors and employees go to classes also. With this updated knowledge we can better serve your customers both residential and commercial. Our water features such as ponds, streams and waterfalls are specialized to each of our customer’s wants and needs. No two are ever the same. The Greenery Schack LLC is a member of the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association and The Better Business Bureau.

BIO: Nick has 18 years of owner experience in the Outdoor Service Industry. He has built Lawn and Landscape
Gardens into a 4 division company through a a series of systems that allows his team to provide valuable outdoor services and develop positive working relationships in the North Metro. His company has appeared twice on HGTV's Landscape Smart as well as QCTV cable television.

DESCRIPTION: Come and listen to the hazards firefighters see in homes that potentially end in disaster. Learn how to
apply these pearls of experience to your own home: CO, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, radon, safe escape, top causes of fire.

PRESENTER: Rebecca Booker

BIO: Rebecca has been a Certified Fire and Life Safety Educator for 10 years. She is also a trained and Certified Firefighter, Arson Investigator, and an RN specialzing in cancer for 29 years.

PRESENTER: Henri Germain

BIO: Henri has 5 years experience in the roofing industry and has researched the green roof applications here in Mpls.He's installed 300 of the green roof modules on Woodbury City Hall and is currently working on the Mpls. City Hall for a possible green roof installation.

BIO: Kathi Osmonson has 20+ years of firefighting background - currently Fire Marshal and Building Official for the City of Mounds View and a volunteer firefighter on the Spring Lake Park - Blaine - Mounds View Fire Department. With a focus on fire prevention and life safety, in addition to fire supression, she is involved in public fire and life safety education, fire investigations, code development and enforcement as well as teaching fire insepction and fire supression system classes at local community colleges. She is also developing on-line classes in these areas.

Kathi currently chairs the International Building Code Development Committee for the Association of MN Building Officials, and the Fire Prevention AAS Degree Program committee through a cooperative effort of MN State Colleges and Universities.

TOPIC_TITLE: “The Do's and Don’ts to Deck Building”

DESCRIPTION: Learn the many avoidable mistakes that would have extended the structure and life of a simple deck. Terry does far more than build decks. But he has built and repaired many decks over the years and have seen the errors that have been made. This seminar is designed to help you make building a deck, a timeless investment.

PRESENTER: Terry Hagstrom

BIO: Terry designed and drew his first home as a senior in high school, many, many years ago. Over the years, he has designed many kitchens and bars for a major hotel chain. For over 17 years he was a project manager, designer and built store fixtures and executive furniture for Gap, Old Navy, Disney, and Williams-Sonoma to name a few. After working for corporate America for 25 plus years, Terry made the jump and started TBH Builders and Remodeler Inc. with his wife and they haven't looked back since. You can hear him occasionally on KSTP's "Home and Garden” program on Saturday mornings from 7am-10am.
